Anet is stupid that bans so many people before release of GW:EN
Should Anet really ban hundreds or thousands of people right before GW:EN's release? I'm sure many of those who was innocent get their account back, but someone may not know how to contact Anet, and someone may get pissed after they got banned and not buy GwEn.. So that meeans, less money for Anet.. They should really consider things before they start banning so many people, atleast the innocent ones..
Sorry if I write bad English, and sorry if it has been made a thread about this before.

No, not the duppers, but the innocent ones, they shouldn't have banned them in the first place..

Anet can't really tell if the ones that were banned are innocent or not. I'm not sure about this, but I think they traced the dupped item to that character and banned the account.

I'm missing something too. Does the duped item flash a different colour than the original? Do neon lights come up and women in top hats and canes start dancing saying "This is a duplicated item!"? Because as far as I know, a duplicated item has the same serial code as the original and only the creators of the game can actually see something like that. Oh but yeah. Screenshot the chicks for me.

They clearly stated that there was a difference made between people helping dupers, buying/accepting excessive amounts of most likely duped goods, and people that most likely bought 1 or a few unknowingly.

Please give this a frikkin' REST... Jesus, people. Yes, it must suck to be banned but TOO BAD on you. The ones here that actually declined people that were offering them hundreds of armbraces or whatnot because we showed RESTRAINT and SELF-CONTROL, not ONE of us got banned. WE are the innocent ones. The people that accepted hundreds of these items, whatever you may say, are NOT innocent.
So please, please, PLEASE stop posting thread after thread after thread about how A.Net destroyed GW or whatever by banning a few people (NOT hundreds of thousands, the bans ran in the SINGLE digits). A game being ran is NOT a democracy. You agree to certain rules and if you don't comply, you get banned. If someone unknown walks up to you in real life and hands you two million dollars you're not suspicious at all?
What I think is most of these threads are started by people who accepted all these items, deep inside KNOWING something was wrong, but accepted anyway, and now feel wronged by A.Net for the loss of their account.
Well, wake-up call, you guys were one of the few to be banned. The rest of us are merily playing along not even noticing the few rotten apples that were taken out.

This whole situation of people accepting duped items just so reminds me of this clip from Futurama:

ANet di the best thing acting swiftly, securing innocent community's interests.
Hundrets and thousands? Where do you get that? It's funny but... NO.
Those banned were:
-dupers themselves, this run in single digits
-affiliates - those who helped, and accepted lots of duped items - those number were higher
-those who didn't help (hence probably didn't know how the dupe works) but accepted huge ammounts of dupes.
There prolly are some innocen banned, but the numbers ain't high. If they were trully innocent, a ticked and a responsive and polite corespondence will unban the account. The marketing would be much, much worse for ANet if they haven't done anything.

Yeah, if anyone was innocently banned I'm sure that if they contacted support and their case was reviewed they'ld be unbanned.
And should we really be complaining about ANet putting principle before profit anyway? O_o

I do think that banning all involved was a bit extreme - one punishment for all crimes isn't my idea of justice and does create a net big enough for innocent players to fall into.
I think the timing would have made a 2 week ban for receivers, more than enough punishment (as they'd be missing the start of GW:EN). Ironically, I expect more of those banned will be back in the game quicker, because they will simply open another account, rather than wait for a ban to be lifted.
IMO, Anet could do with developing more punishments. Bans on the use of specific parts of GW - trade and chat, for instance. So, sure, a player that's behaved *very* badly (outright cheating/hacking or extreme abuse of others) would get a full ban, but other players could receive a ban of x days/weeks + no use of trade for x weeks/months (if trade is relevent to what they're being punished for).

Please, enough with the ban threads already. Anet did the correct thing, except it and move on.

Another thread about this crap -_-
Dont you understand that Anet has logs of all the players actions and only bans people with just cause, all these innocent people your refering to are most likely talking shit if they havent already been un-banned, even most of the ones that get un-banned are most likely guilty in some respect.

I think people bought armbrace even knowing they dupe should be unbanned. Only dupers should be banned. And if I were anet I would wait till EOTN then ban all of those people. many more money.
